SIHH 2019 : Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Ultra Thin Moon Blue Enamel

Later this month at the SHH2019, Jaeger-LeCoultre will formally launch an updated version of their classic Master Ultra Thin Moon, which has been available in number of colour and metal combinations over the years, and which remains a mainstay of their collection.

The new limited edition (one hundred pieces) watch will be in a 39mm white gold case that is 10mm thin, and bedecked with a hand guillochéd deep blue enamel dial, new hour markers (in white gold, as are the hands), a new polished moon, and a different look for the date counter.

In perhaps a deliberate design decision, the new hour markers are longer and thinner, reflecting the lines of the blue dial, and doubled at 12, 3, 6, and 9 o’clock. At six o’clock is the new look moon phase indication. When the moon is full, a round polished white disc appears on a star-filled background. It is encircled by the date indicator, and in my view the most attractive change made – raised engraved numerals.

Although it’s a change design-wise, this new limited edition Master Ultra Thin Moon Blue Enamel uses the Jaeger Le-Coultre Calibre 925, an automatic mechanical movement with seventy hours of power reserve that is already used in the current Master Ultra Thin Moon models.
