I thought that I’d start my SIHH posts by giving those of you who have never been a ‘feel’ for Palexpo and what the fair looks like. As it was my first SIHH, I had no idea of what to expect. What I wasn’t prepared for was the sheer scale of it.

To the casual observer of the list of participants, they might wonder how big it could possibly be. Well it is impressively big physically and organised to an incredibly detailed degree; from the cloakroom to the security checks going in and out, from the constant catering requirements to details such as providing daily newspapers in a variety of languages to attendees. As for the brands themselves, the attention to detail and scale was quite remarkable.
Here are some photos from SIHH 2013. They do not cover detailed looks at all posts, but what I wish to give Horologium readers is an idea of the scope of SIHH 2013 and of what it was like to be there.

As you can see, although it is held at a convention centre, the centre’s interior has been completely transformed to the point where the SIHH interior looks deceptively permanent. If you have not been to an SIHH, I hope that I have been able to give you at least an idea of what it is like to be at this amazing watch fair.

Tack! It should be on every watch person’s list for things to do. Hope you can get there sooner rather than later.
