Since 2012 NOMOS Glashütte have been supporting the German Doctors Without Borders (Ärzte ohne Grenzen) with the sale of special ‘red 12’ pieces, and they have just launched two new limited edition Ahois for this year’s fundraising models. To date, NOMOS have manufactured over 8,000 watches for the group.
Both of the new editions feature the ‘red 12’ characteristic to these MSF models on a white silver-plated dial and come on a bracelet, but they are different sizes, and one features a date function. The base models themselves may already be familiar to you.
First up – the smaller one is the Ahoi neomatik (Ref. 560.S1), which comes in a 36.3mm stainless steel case with a thickness of 9.6mm. Beneath the sapphire crystal on the dial side is a galvanised, white silver-plated dial. As well as the red 12 there are small indices with white Super-LumiNova for the hours. The hands also feature Super-LumiNova. A commemorative Ärzte ohne Grenzen inscription is at six o’clock.
Through the open case back can be seen the automatic Calibre DUW 3001, which has a power reserve of 43 hours. The back also features a limitation engraving – “Sondermodell Ahoi für Ärzte ohne Grenzen Deutschland 1/250”
The Ahoi neomatik is priced at AUD 6,120.
Secondly, we have the Ahoi Datum (Reference 551.S2), which is in a 40.3mm stainless steel case with a thickness of 10.6mm. It has the same dial with the same features but with the addition of a date window.
It also features an automatic movement, the Calibre DUW 5101, which has a power reserve of 42 hours, and has the same limited edition engraving on the back of the case.
The Ahoi Datum has a price of AUD 6,720.
Both models come in a black full grain leather wallet.
They are limited to 250 pieces each, with EUR 250 from each sale going to Ärzte ohne Grenzen. You can buy them online from NOMOS – the Ahoi neomatik at this link, and the Ahoi datum here, but they will also be sold by a limited number of European retailers from mid May 2020.
