NEWS : New incoming CEO for Omega

Swatch Group AG has announced the impending retirement of Mr Stephen Urquhart from the position of president of Omega and the appointment of his deputy Raynald Aeschlimann to succeed him as of June 1, 2016.

Mr Aeschilmann has been Vice President and and International Director of Sales, Retail and Distribution at Omega SA since 2001 but joined the brand in 1996 as Sales and Marketing Project Manager. He was Brand Manager of Omega and Blancpain Spain in 2000 and has been the Group Coordinator for the Swatch Group’s Indian subsidiary since 2010.

Mr. Aeschlimann is also on the Executive Board of the Federation of the Swiss Watch Industry FH and was appointed to the Swatch Group’s Extended Group Management Board in 2013.

Mr Urquhart, who joined Omega in 1997, will not break all ties with watches however, and will be involved in projects and consult for Swatch Group, the Group said in a statement. He has worked since 1997 at the company.
