Chronoswiss has launched its new Space Timer collection with two models – the Moonwalk and the Jupiter.
Yes, they look like the Open Gear models. They are regulateurs, with an hour display at 12 o’clock, a large centre minutes hand, and a visible (‘open gear’) gear train with skeletonised bridge. However, these new Space Timer models have a large moon phase and date sub dial where the retrograde seconds is normally situated.
Firstly, what the two new watches share in common.
They are 44mm stainless steel (thickness of 15.2mm) with a combination of polished and vertical satin finishing. There is a polished screw-down bezel with full thread and side knurling. There is, of course, the familiar Chronoswiss onion crown on the side.

Powering the new Space Timer models is the ETA-based Chronoswiss automatic Calibre C.308 which beats at 28,800 VPH and has a power reserve of 42 hours. Finish Polished pallet lever, escape wheel and screws; bridges and plates with perlage. The rotor is skeletonised with Côtes de Geneve finishing – for the Jupiter it is galvanic black, and for Moonwalk, DLC grey.

For the Moonwalk model, the moon-phase is made from thermally-coloured titanium, with stainless steel beads in between the Arabic numerals used as date markers on the circumference of the sub dial. The moon and stars have Super-LumiNova. The partially skeletonised hour and date disc is made from transparent ITR2®. Innovative Technical Revolutionary Resin is a composite material based on carbon nanotubes that is eight times lighter than stainless steel. It is produced by Injector SA, a Swiss company based in Porrentruy.
The hand guilloché dial has a ‘Moonwalk’ pattern with galvanic coating, and also features sand-blasted blue CVD coating.
For the Space Timer Jupiter, the dial is a laser-sculpted, with a nano-print finish whose colour and design is a nod to Jupiter’s gases and surface colour. Unlike the blue ITR2® date disc on the Moonwalk, the Jupiter has a translucent ITR2® disc, but it also has the small stainless steel balls. Its moon-phase has a sand-colored titanium sphere.
Both the Space Timer Jupiter and the Space Timer Moonwalk are in limited editions of fifty pieces each, with an RRP of EUR 16,600.
