NEW: Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch Moonshine™ Gold

Omega has just launched two new models in Moonshine™ Gold – one with a Moonshine™ Gold dial, black ceramic bezel ring and black subdials, and the other with a PVD-coated green dial and a green ceramic bezel ring.

What is OMEGA Moonshine™ Gold? It was launched back in 2019; we covered the Speedmaster Apollo 11 50th anniversary Moonshine Limited Edition in which it made an appearance, at the time. It is an 18kt yellow gold alloy comprised of 75% gold, 14.5% silver, 9% copper, and 1% palladium. It is more pale than 18kt yellow gold and is purportedly more resistant to the colour fading, because of the combination of metals.

For both of these new Speedmaster models, the 42mm case (50m water resistance) is in 18kt Moonshine™ Gold, and it features an open case back with “THE FIRST WATCH WORN ON THE MOON” and “CO-AXIAL MASTER CHRONOMETER” engraved on the case back. The gold bezel has either a green or black ceramic ring, and the Omega Ceragold™ tachymeter scale has a ‘Dot Over Ninety’.

The familiar functions and layout are central hour, minute and chronograph seconds hands, small seconds at 9 o’clock,30-minute counter at 3 o’clock, and 12 hour counter at 6 o’clock.

As mentioned, there are two dial variants – green PVD or sun-brushed 18kt Moonshine™ Gold. Both options have applied diamond-polished 18kt Moonshine™ Gold hour markers with Super-LumiNova. Transferred markings: “OMEGA”, “Speedmaster PROFESSIONAL”, minute track and “SWISS MADE” transferred in Moonshine Gold color.

The sub dials are 18kt Moonshine™ Gold with black coating or PVD-coated green, and have transfer indications in Moonshine™ gold. The appliques are diamond-polished 18kt Moonshine™ Gold.

The hour and minute hands are diamond-polished 18kt Moonshine™ Gold with Super-LumiNova. The centre chronograph hand has Moonshine™ Gold PVD coating and of course, Super-LumiNova. The hands on the sub dials are diamond-polished 18kt Moonshine™ Gold.

Inside is the manually wound Co-Axial Master Chronometer Calibre 3861 which beats at 21,600 VPH and has a power reserve of 50 hours. Finishing includes Côtes de Genève, circular graining, rhodium plating, and gold-plated engraving.

The new model comes with three bracelet/ strap options – an 18kt Moonshine™ Gold bracelet with an 18kt Moonshine Gold buckle, a leather strap, or an integrated black rubber strap with polished and brushed 18kt Moonshine™ Gold clap. The rubber strap’s underside has a lunar surface pattern.

The Moonwatch Professional Co-axial Master Chronometer Chronograph will come in a “Moonwatch” presentation box with “LEGENDARY MOONWATCH” leaflet inside.

No doubt because of the use of this proprietary alloy, the pricing is reflective of how Omega have decided to positioned these new models. They are not your ‘usual’ Speedmaster. The RRPs are as follows:

Moonshine™ gold on Moonshine™ gold bracelet with green dial (Ref. 310.60.42.50.10.001) AUD 53,150
Moonshine™ gold on leather strap with green dial (Ref.310.63.42.50.10.001) AUD 37,625
Moonshine™ gold on Moonshine™ gold with yellow dial (Ref.310.60.42.50.99.002) AUD 55,775
Moonshine™ gold on rubber strap with yellow dial (Ref.310.62.42.50.99.001) AUD 40,275
