At the LVMH Group’s Watch Week Dubai 2020 Bvlgari has launched new additions to its record breaking (and award winning) Octo Finissimo collection.
The key piece is the Octo Finissimo Minute Repeater, making its first appearance in a precious metal – rose gold, after earlier versions in titanium and carbon (both a mere 6.85mm thick). The case size is 40mm and water resistance, 30m. The metal treatment gives the rose gold an interesting texture, and the dial has a cut out design like its predecessors. It uses the same ultra thin (3.12mm) manual-wind Calibre BVL 362 minute repeater movement which has a 42 hour power reserve, but because of the case material, this new sandblasted rose gold minute repeater is a fraction thicker, at 6.90mm.
As well as the 18 carat rose gold case having a sand-blasted treatment, so too does the 18 carat rose gold crown and pusher and of course, the dial. It comes on a brown matte alligator leather strap with an 18 carat rose gold ardillon buckle.
The other new Octo releases in the same 40mm sized case (with 100m water resistance) are the Finissimo Automatic in satin-polished steel with a satin-polished steel bracelet, in a satin-polished rose gold model on an alligator strap, and also the promotion of a black sandblasted ceramic piece with a sandblasted polished ceramic bracelet that had already been released (RRP AUD 22,800).
Both the Octo Finissimo Automatic Satin-Polished Steel and Satin-Polished Rose Gold are 5.25mm thick, whereas the Octo Finissimo Automatic Black Sandblast-Polished Ceramic is 5.50mm thick.
With all three of these powered by the 2.23mm thick automatic Calibre BVL 138 Finissimo with a platinum micro rotor and 60 hour power reserve, both the Octo Finissimo Automatic Satin-Polished Steel and the Octo Finissimo Automatic Satin-Polished Rose Gold feature polished black lacquer dials.
Yes it’s an all-black watch and yes these have historically sometimes proven somewhat difficult in the legibility stakes, but Bvlgari are no strangers to monochromatic Octo Finissimo models. This new piece, as the others have done, uses as a combination of matte and brilliant surfaces for contrast and highlight.
Coming on an integrated satin-polished steel bracelet with a folding clasp, the Octo Finissimo Satin-Polished Steel has a polished steel screw-down crown set with ceramic inlay, black lacquered dial, and faceted rhodium-plated hands.
The Octo Finissimo Automatic Black Sandblast-Polished Ceramic has a ceramic crown set with ceramic inlay; sandblasted ceramic dial, and the sand-blasted polished ceramic bracelet comes with a folding clasp. The Rose Gold variant has an 18 carat satin-polished rose gold screw-down crown set with ceramic inlay, and rose gold plated hands. It comes on a black alligator strap with a matching 18 carat rose gold ardillon buckle.
The Octo Finissimo collection has been one with widespread appeal since its launch, and these new models will very likely increase their popularity.
