The famous SIHH brand is no more, as the more recent ‘Watches & Wonders’ offshoot ‘sub brand’ takes over. What was informally called ‘watch week’ by many attending the SIHH for the plethora of watch-related events around Geneva during the fair is now going to be more official.
The Fondation de la Haute Horlogerie has announced that along with the date change to sync with Baselworld, the 30th Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie (SIHH) in Geneva in 2020 will not just have new dates, a new name, and a new logo, but also a new format.
The success of the public days of the last couple of years is an idea that has been expanded upon, with what is now called ‘Watches & Wonders Geneva’ extending from Palexpo into the city itself, inviting the public into the once invitation-only event.
“In the City” as they call it, will cover more venues with the intention of attracting a broader range of visitors, including a younger audience, with engagement and interactivity forming a greater part of the new event. There will be exhibitions, introductions to watchmaking, walking tours, manufacture visits, boutique presentations, open house days at museums, conferences, and ‘conversation’ events.
The Salon will take place at Palexpo, The Lab will showcase technological innovations not just from the exhibiting maisons but of smaller firms as well, and The Live will provide access to product launches and announcements as well as featuring speakers.
Watches & Wonders Geneva will be held between 25 to 29 April 2020. For more information, go to this link.
