Barely a week has passed since the announcement by Corum that that they will leave Baselworld, but the departures continue, with the latest withdrawal from Baselworld 2019 being Maurice Lacroix, a thirty year veteran of the fair.
In what is becoming a familiar refrain for brands departing from fairs, be they Baselworld or SIHH, Maurice Lacroix have stated that “The watch industry is constantly evolving, as are the expectations of the Swiss firm’s retail customers. Now is the time for the brand from the Swiss Jura mountains, to upgrade its business and distribution model.”
They will not be eschewing from exhibiting during watch fairs altogether, announcing that they will be on the Ile Rousseau in Geneva from 14 January 2019 to 18 January 2019, joining other brands who privately exhibit in the city during the SIHH fair.
Unlike the other Baselworld departures to date, Maurice Lacroix have only specified their absence from next year’s Baselworld, stating that “The company looks forward to discovering the new concepts prepared for Baselworld 2020.”
