This year Breguet has launched a new addition to their Tradition collection but for women in the form of the Dame 7038. Althought it has all the classic Tradition attributes it is also a distinctly different watch with its own character.
As you can see, the mainplate features a sub dial at 12 o’clock with its hands directly driven by a central barrel. A balance-wheel and intermediate wheels form an arc stretching from 4 to 8 o’clock.
The hours and minutes are are on a colourful and dressily elegant Tahitian mother-of-pearl dial that is nicely complimented by a red strap, but you could play around with a lot of diferent strap colours for this watch.
If you look to 10 o’clock you will see a discreet retrograde seconds indicator, with seconds engraved onto the movement, the automatic 50-hour power reserve Calibre 505SR, which is also visible through the open case back. There’s also an interesting ‘movement touch’ to the crown, with a movement jewel set into it.
In a well-sized 37mm white gold case, the Tradition Dame 7038 also has a bezel set with sixty-eight brilliant-cut diamonds which makes it more dressed-up than dressed-down, although as mentioned earlier, I think a change of strap colour would make for quite dramatic changes in this watch, from dressy to almost summer with a light coloured strap, or a a black strap for something more sedate.
