For an instagram account with comparatively few posts to date, H.Moser & Cie have developed a solid following, and in recent days they’ve been engaged in a bit of horological teasing with their followers about new releases. One of the watches that has been just announced, complete with a hashtag of #RedefineLuxury, is the new Endeavour Concept Watch Fumé.
For those who are familiar with Moser, this new piece may look familiar. Well this is because it is – it’s basically the Endeavour Centre Seconds with no indices, no branding on the dial. Because of the distinctiveness of the hands/ fumé combination, there is no mistakening this as anything other than a Moser watch.
The 18 carat white gold case is 40.8mm with a thickness of 10.9mm and has the same open caseback as the Centre Seconds model through which you can see the manual-wind Calibre HMC343 and seven day power reserve indicator, the same as the ‘regular’ Centre Seconds model. It comes on a hand-stitched black alligator strap with an 18kt white gold buckle.
So – to what does the hashtag #RedineLuxury refer? In H.Moser & Cie’s own words –
“In a world awash with aggressive branding and marketing strategies, the independent manufacture has gone back to basics to unveil a watch of absolute purity.
This model, which features neither indices nor a logo, is the antithesis of the dial overloaded with useless functions, and turns the spotlight back onto distinctively human luxury which remains true to the central aim of watchmaking: indicating the time.”
This is an unexpected move, and it will be interesting to see how many will go for this watch sans markings over its branded older sibling. For more details contact H.Moser & Cie
