Some watch fair releases seem to garner more coverage than others, so today’s post is an introduction to a Watches & Wonders 2014 piece that may well have slipped under your radar, but which fits neatly within Van Cleef & Arpels’ unashamedly and unapologetically wistful-yearning themed timepieces in their ‘Poetic Complications’ collection.
Launched in Hong Kong, the new Lady Arpels Heures Filantes’ dial features shooting stars that not only indicate the average number of said stars per hour throughout the year (the triangle marker at 12 o’clock) but, and here is where the ‘poetic’ part comes into play, encourages the wearer to wish upon the indicated stars. Perhaps a bit cheesey to some, but perhaps a nice idea as a gift.
This wishing watch is in a 38mm white gold case and containes a manual-wind movement with a module by Agenhor, with whom Van Cleef & Arpels have a well-known ongoing relationship.
