A commemorative blue plaque was unveiled on 22 August 2014 at the former home and workshop of the late watchmaker Dr George Daniels CBE. Members of the British Horological Institute, the Antiquarian Horological Society and the Worshipful Company of Clockmakers attended the plaque ceremony in Thornsett Road Penge, where Dr. Daniels lived for over two decades.
Born in 1926, his legacy in the industry includes leaving a reputed £21 million. Mr. David Newman, a friend of Dr. Daniels and the chairman of the George Daniels Trust, was one of those in attendance.
