NEW: Chronoswiss Delphis Firestarter

Chronoswiss have a new addition to their Delphis model – meet the Firestarter, featuring what the brand says is a world-first – a ‘titanium nano core shell’ (i.e. titanium composite) case created by bonding a titanium core with a composite that they have not yet provided the details about, using a form of liquid treatment.

This Titanium Core Nano Shell case 42.6mm (14.5mm thick), hand polished with a satin-finished case back, the familiar onion crown, and water resistant to 100m. The red colour is not a coating but part of the composite material – the bonding mentioned above integrates the titanium core with a 0.4mm ultra-lightweight yet resilient composite shell, with the case carved out of the resultant block. This means the ability to combined the two with different colours.

The Delphis collection is all about enamelling work. It’s red all the way, with an equally red curved white gold dial in red Grand Feu enamel with hand-guilloché decoration.

As is the case with the other Delphis references, the Firestarter has a digital jumping hour display at 12 o’clock, a central retrograde open-worked minute hand, and an analog seconds (rotating red and white ‘warning’ sign) at 6 o’clock with a hand guilloched galvanic black outer ring and aluminum centre.

It is powered by the automatic Chronoswiss C.6004 which beats at 28,800 VPH and has a power reserve of 55 hours. It features a skeletonised tungsten rotor and ruthenium plating.

Coming on a rubber strap, the Chronoswiss Delphis Firestarter comes in a limited edition of fifty pieces and has an RRP of CHF 38,000.
