INDUSTRY NEWS: (UPDATE) Casio cyber-attack

We recently reported the cyber-attack on Casio, the details of which you can read at this link. As we stated, after initial uncertainty, the group Underground took credit for a ransomware attack, confirmed by Casio,  claiming that 204.9 GB of data were exfiltrated, with information obtained including confidential company information, information from business partners, employee files, patents, financial documents, legal document, project information, job applicant data, NDAs, and even some customer information (screenshot in the original article).

Today, Casio Computer Co., Ltd. announced the suspension of acceptance of repairs for personal products as a consequence of the cyber-attack. The attack has lead to significant delays and a backlog of repair requests. They expect that the system will be restored by the end of November. Customers will be informed when services resume. UPDATE (22/10/24) – Casio announced today that it will delay the release of its second-quarter earnings due to the impact of a ransomware attack on its accounting process. The original date was November 6 and the new date is mid-November.
