NEW: Citizen 100th Anniversary Pocket Watch

In 1924 Citizen launched its first pocket watch, a landmark which it is now marking with a new limited edition (100 pieces) 100th Anniversary Pocket Watch which, like its original namesake, is also hand-wound.

This new pocket watch maintains the look of the original, with Arabic numerals and a small seconds at 6 o’clock, but there are some changes aand updates – the 43.5mm case (yes it is not especially large) is titanium alloy, with a thickness of 13.4mm and, of course, the movement.

Through the sapphire open case back is the Cal. 0270, which beats at 28,800 VPH and has a power reserve of 55 hours. As was the case in the 1924 model, the bridges are decorated with Côtes de Genève. The base plate features perlage, and there are diamond-cut edges.

The dial’s pattern, which is intended to suggest the build-up of snow during a snowfall, is achieved through electroforming followed by a clear coating and polishing. The blued hands are also mirrored in the colour choice of the cord ‘chain’.

The pocket watch’s limitation number is engraved on the case back, and it comes on an indigo braided silk cord (called ‘kumiho’) made by Domyo, who have been braiding silk since 1652. You can read about how this is done at this link.

With 100 pieces available worldwide, the Citizen 100th Anniversary Pocket Watch will have a price of 1,000,000 YEN (excluding taxes) and be available towards the end of 2024 through Citizen Flagship, Citizen Premium, and Citizen Concept stores.
