Louis Erard’s Excellence Petite Seconde, the entry-level model in their Excellence collection, was redesigned and given new life in 2020. Since then, it has been a canvas for a number of variants, with different materials, colour schemes and collaborations, including with the recently mentioned Seconde/ Seconde.

Now, the brand has launched two new bi-coloured variants in stainless steel cases, and with guilloché decoration the dials – the new Louis Erard Excellence Petite Seconde Guilloché 42mm has anthracite black, and the Excellence Petite Seconde Guilloché 39mm features blue guilloché. Both models have an anthracite ring and seconds counter, Pantone 2C white transfers, and rhodium-plated signature fir tree hands.

The Excellence Petite Seconde Guilloché has a four-part dial – in the middle the flinqué guilloché work is in a wave pattern, radiating from the centre. Circling this section is the hour circle, which has a panier pattern. The outer ring is the minute track. The seconds sub dial at 6 o’clock has the same panier guilloché.

Visible through the open case back is the automatic Sellita SW261-1 which beat at 28,800 VPH and has a power reserve of 38 hours. It has an open-worked oscillating weight with a black lacquered Louis Erard symbol.
Coming on a black calf strap, this attractive version of a dial design that can be had for a much higher price point, with a competitively priced RRP of CHF 2,300.
