There are many owners of haute horlogerie watches who also have (often multiple) G-SHOCKs, and because there are also Yamamoto fans amongst some of this subset, this might be of interest to that crossover.
To mark five decades, Yohji Yamamoto’s Y’s label has partnered with G-SHOCK for its first-ever watch collaboration, via the G-SHOCK GM-S5600YS-1.

Not unexpectedly, it’s an all-black colour scheme. The watch itself is a smaller S Series model (water resistance 200m) with a black ion plated stainless steel bezel. The Y’s logo is printed on the upper face and etched on the black stainless steel case back. It has a mix of finishes including a honed bezel, brushed front bezel, and mirror polished buttons and side screws. There is Y’s branding stamped on the face and on the back of the stainless steel case. It has standard features like a timer, stopwatch, traditional timekeeping, and lighting adjustments.

The Y’s x G-SHOCK comes on cloth strap with a velcro-d flap that has a commemorative woven label, and the traditional resin strap is also part of the package. It has a price of 44,000 YEN (including taxes).

Y’s x G-SHOCK GM-S5600YS-1 will be available from March 24 on the Y’s website and selected stores in Japan, and outside of Japan, in selected G-SHOCK/ Casio stores. There will also be a special pop-up Y’s 1972 – Y’s x G-SHOCK at Y’s Omotesando from 24 March to mid April 2023.
