Today it’s all about IWC’s Portofino collection and calendars, with the release of the new Automatic Pointer Date and the Complete Calendar.
Let’s start with the more complicated model. The Complete Calendar is their first watch to feature the brand’s new complete calendar module, which is mounted on top of the automatic Calibre 32150, which beats at 28,800 VPH and has a power reserve of 72 hours. This new module has 69 parts, with each calendar display driven by a separate gear train.

The new IWC Portofino Complete Calendar comes in two launch models, both in 41mm-sized cases with a thickness of 11.8mm and a water resistance of 50m. The Ref. IW359001 has a stainless steel case, silver-plated dial, gold-plated hands and applied markers, and comes on a blue calfskin strap. The Ref. IW359002 has an 18-carat 5N gold case, silver-plated dial, gold-plated hands, solid gold applied markers, and a taupe calfskin strap.

The complete calendar obviously features the date, day, month, and moon phase – the sub-dial at 12 o’clock is the day of the week and the moon phase, and at 6 o’clock are the date and month. All adjustments are via a crown and two correction buttons.

The Australian RRP for the steel model is $15,600 and for the 5N gold model, $31,000.
The second new model is the Portofino Automatic 39 Pointer Date, the first Portofino model with a (blued) pointer jumping date indication in a sub counter at 6 o’clock. This is the first appearance of a date indication in this form for the Portofino collection.

As you have no doubt guessed from its model name, the Ref. IW359201 comes in a 39mm stainless steel case with a thickness of 10.8mm and water resistance of 50m. Its dial is silver-plated dial, and the hands and applied markers are gold-plated. Inside is the automatic Calibre 35160, which beats at 28,800 VPH and has a power reserve of 50 hours.

Coming on a brown calfskin strap with a quick-change system, the Australian RRP is $8,050. The Portofino Automatic 39 Pointer Date will be available as of February 2023 but the Complete Calendar will not be available until April 2023.
