I wouldn’t normally mention two variants of the same watch in quick succession, but today is an exception because it involves someone whose work we have mentioned many times before – master enameller Anita Porchet.
TimeForArt is a benefit auction of timepieces whose proceeds go to aid the Swiss Institute’s activities – exhibitions, public programs, education etc.
For TimeForArt 2022, Romain Gauthier has given Anita Porchet creative license for a unique C by Romain Gauthier Platinum Edition, featuring an 18k white gold movement and sublimated by a miniature painting Grand Feu enamel dial signed by Anita Porchet.
We covered the latest C Platinum Edition, and at 41mm the case size remains the same, but it is, at 10.5mm, thicker in this new platinum piece. The in-house manual-wound movement is again 18k white gold, with 60 hours of power reserve.
As she is more familiar for her work for watch brand clients, it is fascinating to see, when given the opportunity and a blank dial, what she has chosen to do. On an 18kt white gold dial, the Grand Feu enamel painting she has chosen is (literally and figuratively) drawn from two inspirations – botanical illustrations and traditional Chinese paintings. A more fluid and organic design than the work for which she is more known.
TimeForArt will be part of the Phillips New York Watch Auction on December 10-11, 2022. You can read more about the auction and the participating brands in this inaugural auction at this link.
