NEW: C by Romain Gauthier Platinum Edition

Romain Gauthier’s self-identified youth-oriented model may have been launched in a titanium case, but it’s gone back to precious metal for is new Platinum Edition for a dress watch option of what is probably the most un-Gauthier (and most casual in its design) of Gauthier’s collections.

The platinum case is 41mm (thickness of 9.55mm) with a water resistance of 50m and total weight of 149g (including the strap). C by Romain Gauthier is presented with two different dial colour options, both matte and white gold – blue or grey. The platinum crown can be fluted or surrounded by a rubber ring.

The dial is notable for large Roman numerals and seconds sub dial with lines in a star-like format, with the extended horizontal one ‘cutting off’ the lower third of the dial giving another visual point of interest.

This movement, which made its debut in the inaugural C, is manually wound, beats at 28,800VPH and has a power reserve of 60 hours. The regulator features the Gauthier balance wheel with curved arms and calibrated eccentric weights, plus a triangular pallet lever designed to maximise rigidity.

The calibre is 18k white gold. Along with polished bevels and straight graining, there is hand-frosted ‘dimpled effect’ hand-engraving on the bridges. The outer edges of each bridge all feature a double bevel. The flat bridge surfaces and rubies are framed by a straight-grained raised border.

Joining the permanent collection, the new C Platinum Edition has an RRP of CHF 78, 000 excluding taxes. It comes on a rubber strap with a platinum buckle.
