Bulova’s Archive Collection ‘revival’ pieces have a new member – an updated version of the early 1970s bullhead chronograph known as the ‘Parking Meter’. Yes, a parking-related watch nickname is not unique to this watch/ brand, but unlike the famed watch known as ‘Le Parking’, this one is more about design.
The original Bulova was produced between 1970 and 1974 but this new model has its roots in the Ref. 31008-6W, with its 1970s-tastic bullhead style of pushers and crowns (see below).
This new re-edition comes in a 43mm-sized stainless case (the same size as the originals), with a water resistance of 100m.
Going inwards, there is a blue ion plated outer tachymeter ring, and a silver dial with blue and orange details. The hands are lumed.
The new Parking Meter doesn’t have a Swiss mechanical movement – instead, Bulova have gone with a quartz Miyota 0S21 with a dual-time feature which is set by the crown at 6 o’clock.
Coming on a brown leather strap with blue-grey stitching and a steel buckle and limited to 5,000 numbered pieces, it is priced at USD 595. It will be available from late July 2022 and in the first instance, sold directly by Bulova website and from Windup Watch Store.
