Furniture and industrial designer Werner Aisslinger, founder of Studio Aisslinger, is the creative mind with whom Nomos Glashütte have chosen to partner for their newly announced Autobahn model.
Cars have long been a design inspiration for watches; the ‘gauge aesthetic’ look is the one that is most evident in the new Autobahn Neomatik 41 Datum, but Nomos say that the dial’s rehaut is inspired by race tracks as well. There is also the use of Super-LumiNova on the hour markers and, more unusually, a luminous sector ring, a design feature inspired by speedometers.
Inside the 41mm case is the new Neomatick automatic Calibre DUW6101, with a forty-two hour power reserve. The date ring is placed around the movement, as it is with all Nomos calibres, and the date change itself can be done forwards or backwards.
The Autobahn neomatik 41 Datum is available in three dial colours : white silver-plated, sports gray (sportgrau), and midnight blue (nachtblau). All of these variants come on blue textile straps.
The Nomos website pricing (incl tax) for all the colour variants is AUD 6,760, but it is also available from your local (including Australian) authorised dealer.
