SIHH 2016 will be quite a different proposition to SIHH of recent times, with a new ‘Carré des Horlogers’ (Watchmaker’s Square) featuring nine new brands/ independents joining the Richemont powerhouses, and the departure of Ralph Lauren from the Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie ranks.
Go to this link for a detailed look at the attendees over the SIHH’s twenty-five year history. There are some interesting names there, especially in the early days, including some independent brands.
For these new brands, and perhaps most for Kari Voultilainen, this will no doubt provide a great chance of being able to show their work to more people during the unofficial Geneva Watch Week, and their presence will certainly make for a different fair. For Horologium, who has for the last couple of years visited De Bethune, MB&F, Urwerk and others before/ after SIHH, we will miss the weekend scoots between the hotels at which appointments are held, but look forward to seeing everyone again in Geneva in January.
