HANDS-ON: Arnold & Son Longitude Titanium

Arnold & Son’s new Longitude Titanium is unlike the dress watches for which the brand has been associated. Their take on the luxury sports watch with an integrated bracelet, the new model is a COSC-certified chronometer in a 42.5mm titanium case with a power reserve display at 12 o’clock and a seconds sub dial at 6 o’clock.

This new model comes in three colours – Kingsand, Ocean Blue, and Fern Green, with vertical satin-finishing, and the case and bracelet both have a combination of satin and polished finishing. Water resistance is 100m.

The brand states that the dial colours are inspired by John Arnold’s birthplace of Cornwall. Kingsand is named for the beach of the same name, the Ocean blue is a nod to the Cornish coast, and the third is Fern green. Kingsand is limited to 88 timepieces and the other two are unlimited.

The mirror-polished power reserve indicators are shown via cut-outs and have different colours according to the model – blue PVD treatment, golden finish or rhodium-plating. The seconds sub dial is snailed, the polished hour markers are rhodium-plated or gold-finished and have Super-LumiNova. The skeletonised hands are rhodium-plated or gold-finished, and also have Super-LumiNova.

The Longitude Titanium is powered by the new COSC-certified A&S6302. Its skeletonised oscillating weight’s shape is inspired by the shape of an 18th century English frigate prow and made from 22 carat 5N red gold. It also has engraved graduations that are a nod to sextants. Beating at 28,000 VPH, it has a power reserve of 60 hours. The movements finishing includes a palladium finish and circular graining on the mainplate, palladium finish on the bridges, which are polished and have a ‘Rayons de la Gloire’ motif, and golden finishing and circular satin-finishing on the wheels.\

With water resistance of 100m, the Longitude Titanium comes on an interchangeable titanium bracelet with a folding clasp. You also get a second strap of either blue or green rubber with a titanium pin buckle.

The RRPs are CHF 22,600 for the Kingsand gold, CHF 21,500 for the Ocean blue, and CHF 21,500 for the Fern green.
