Stefan Kudoke has expanded their HANDwerk collection with the new KUDOKE 5. If you are familiar with the K2, you will immediately see that this new model is basically saying ‘enhance, enhance’ – the small 24-hour display has now become the main player, with a large domed hand-engraved celestial disc which completes one rotation every 24 hours.
So how do you tell the time? The part of the disc (sun or moon and stars) that is in the upper half represents the current time. When the sun part is on top, it’s noon, and when the stars and moon section is there, it’s midnight, with a gold triangle on the night side indicating the time in 15-minute-intervals on the frosted and silvered 24-hour ring surrounding the disc.
The disc itself is electroplated in yellow gold, black and white rhodium, the different parts of the disc having undergone galvanic treatment to achieve the relevant colour. It has a depiction of Ursa Minor and with Polaris.
The KUDOKE 5 comes in a 38mm stainless steel case (thickness of 12mm) featuring an onion crown and water resistance of 50m. Visible through the case back is the manually-wound Kaliber 1-24H_L which beats at 28,800 VPH and has a power reserve of 46 hours. It has a frosted wheel bridge and hand-engraved balance cock with an infinity symbol looping around the blued screw.
To reduce friction caused by the weight of the disc, it is supported by a stainless steel ball bearing which contains small zirconia balls. It does not require any lubrication.
Coming o n either a leather or Alcantara strap with a stainless steel buckle (there is a folding clasp option), the KUDOKE 5 has an RRP of EUR 17,900 (excluding taxes).
