MB&F and Bvlgari have partnered up once again. Following on from the LM FlyingT Allegra, we now have, just in time for the year of the snake, the limited edition Bvlgari x MB&F Serpenti. Bvlgari’s Serpenti is one of their most recognisable pieces, but this new MB&F version is a far cry from its 1948 origins. It’s more MB&F than Bvlgari.

There are three models, each limited to thirty-three pieces – one in a titanium case with blue hour and minute domes, one in an 18K rose gold case with green hour and minute domes, and one in black PVD-coated stainless steel with red hour and minute domes. They come on matching rubber straps with Velcro and an ardillon buckle in grade 5 titanium or 18K rose gold.

Unusually curved cases have been part of MB&F’s pieces, and the Bvlgari x MB&F Serpenti case continues this, from the case to the five sapphire crystals, including the snake’s eyes and the multi-faceted rear section. The revolving hour and minute domes (representing serpentine ‘eyes’) are machined from solid aluminium and have Super-LumiNova to represent a snake’s eyes when illuminated. Indicies and markers are aksi coated with Super-LumiNova.

Machined using 5-axis 3D mills, the case measures 53mm x 39mm x 18mm and it is water resistant to 30m. The crown at 11 o’clock is for winding, and the crown at 1 o’clock is time-setting.

Powering the Bvlgari x MB&F Serpenti is a manually-wound MB&F movement. Beating at 18,000 VPH, it has an oversized 14mm flying balance wheel with four traditional regulating screws and is held in place by a balance bridge bearing the two partners’ names. The power reserve indicator is on the back of the watch.

The RRP for the Bvlgari x MB&F Serpenti is CHF 132,000 (excluding taxes) for the titanium and black PVD-coated steel models and CHF 152,000 (excluding taxes) for the rose gold model. Because they only have the capacity to complete six to eight pieces per month, you will have a short wait for delivery. Given that waiting times for some watches extends into years, this particular wait will be an easy one, and you’ll have a fun and quintessentially MB&F watch at the end of the wait.
