Today is about another new (and similarly coloured, which extends even to the strap) vintage-inspired watch, with the launch of the new Moritz Grossman 37 Arabic Vintage, which joins the brand’s Benu collection.
The case, in brushed stainless steel with satin finishing, is 37mm with a thickness of 9.2mm. The dial is untreated German silver dial with a matte anthracite finish. This is achieved by thermal treatment of the dial, which gives it a grainy texture. It means both that the dial has a less ‘flat’ appearance and that its colour can seem to be slightly different under different lighting conditions and at different angles.

The hand-polished hands are accompanied by raised Arabic numerals that have brushed finishing, as does the minute scale and the historic 1875 Grossmann logo.

Through the open case back can be seen the manually-wound Moritz Grossmann in-house 102.1. A pillar movement featuring a 3/5 plate with frame parts in untreated German silver, it has a removable clutch winder, raised gold chatons with pan-head screws almong with a modified regulator. The movement also features some classic Mortiz Grossmann features such as a shock-resistant proprietary escapement with 18-tooth escape wheel. Beating at 21,600 VPH with a power reserve of 48 hours, its finishing includes hand engraving on the balance cock.

Falling into that category of handsome classic vintage-inspired dress watches, the new Moritz Grossmann 37 Arabic Vintage comes on a hand-stitched vintage brown Kudu strap with a stainless steel pin buckle and has an RRP of AUD 59,500 (including GST)/ EUR 33,400 (excluding taxes) or EUR 39,700 (including taxes).
