Laurent Ferrier’s new Classic Auto Sandstone (aka Série Atelier VI) is the latest addition to the brand’s Série Atelier pieces. These aren’t so much a collection family as a special sideline off the main collection, with its models all limited to twenty numbered pieces available directly from the brand.
The five preceding this new addition were the (going back from the most recent) the Sport Auto 40, Classic Micro-Rotor Magnetic Green, Classic Traveller Magnetic Green, École Annual Calendar Navy, and Classic Origin Green, some of which we have covered.

The stainless steel pebble-shaped case is 40mm with a water resistance of 30m. Under the domed sapphire crystal is a copper-coloured lacquered dial with a vertically satin-brushed centre, and a circular satin-brushed railway track with slate grey coloured transfers. Alongside the time is a snailed small seconds at 6 o’clock and a date window at 3 o’clock with slate grey stamped numerals on a white background. The hands and hour markers are 18k white gold.

Under the sapphire case back is the automatic in-house LF270.01. Featuring rhodium-plated bridges with Cotes de Genève and a platinum micro-rotor, it beats at 28,800 VPH and has a power reserve of three days.
Laurent Ferrier’s new Classic Auto Sandstone Série Atelier VI comes on a dark brown calf strap with Alcantara lining and a stainless steel pin buckle. It is priced at CHF 50,000 and available exclusively from Laurent Ferrier.
