To mark forty years of his eponymous brand, in 2020 Svend Andersen presented four special timepieces, of which one was a variation on his jumping hour complication that came in a 38mm 5N red gold case with a 21k BlueGold dial featuring a hand guilloché diamond-shaped decoration they called ‘magical lozenges’. You can read about it at this link. It was not a one-off special edition, and you can read about another example, also with that ‘magical lozenge’ dial, here.
Now, Andersen Genève have announced a new Jumping Hours Black Jade Stone in a limited edition of 50 pieces. This time, as with last year’s Rising Sun edition, it is again in a 38mm 950 Pt platinum case (water resistance of 30m), but the crown is pink gold, and the dial is not about decoration but about stone – black jade. The curved lugs are welded to the case and mirror-polished finish, as is the bezel, contrasting with the satin-brushed case flanks.

It’s all about the sleek dial – made from a 0.4mm thin piece of black jade, it has hand-applied black lacquer coating. The hour is in the aperture at 12 o’clock and there is a minutes sub-dial at 6 o’clock with a pink gold hand and a printed powdered rose gold railway-style minutes chapter ring. The brand logo is also in powdered rose gold.

Powering it is the same movement as has been previously used – the automatic Frédéric Piguet 11.50 double barrel movement with an in-house jumping hours module beats at 21,600 VPH and has a power reserve of 72 hours. Its 18k pink gold rotor has grains d’orge (barley grain) hand guilloché and you can see a small plate on the bridge with the letter ‘A’.

You may recall this particular feature from previous models, but surrounding the movement is a 21k BlueGold ring. It is hand-engraved with ‘Andersen Genève’ and the xx/50 limitation number.
The Andersen Genève Jumping Hours Black Jade Stone comes on a hand-stitched black suede strap with a platinum buckle. Limited to 50 pieces, it has an RRP of CHF 52,800.
