This year Junghans added to its popular and well-priced max bill Bauhaus series with three new models – the Regulator, the Chronoscope, and the time-only Automatic, with all of them in matte stainless-steel cases with a white silver-plated dial featuring red accents, and a decorated case back with stylised Bauhaus building through which you can partially see the movement.

First up is the max bill Regulator Bauhaus, with its large centre minutes hand and off-centre hour at 12 o’clock and seconds at 6 o’clock. All three hands are matte-silver, and have a luminous red accent, as well as luminous dots at 12 o’clock, 3 o’clock, 6 o’clock, and 9 o’clock. The red theme also extends to the date.
It comes in a 40mm sized case with thickness of 10.9mm and water resistance of 50m and is powered by the automatic Calibre J800.5 with a power reserve of 38 hours.
With a matte stainless steel buckle on a leather strap, the RRP for the Junghans max bill Bauhaus Regulator is EUR 2,375.

Next up we have the max bill Chronoscope Bauhaus. Also in a 40mm-sized case, but this time with a thickness of 14.5mm, its complications are, as the model name indicates, to do with chronographs, with 30-minute and 12-hour counters on the dial alongside a date window, but with red accents only on the hour and minute hands and the date. The lume is again on the hour and minute hands and the dots at 12 o’clock, 3 o’clock, 6 o’clock and 9 o’clock.
Coming on a leather strap with a matte stainless steel buckle, its RRP is EUR 2,395.

Lastly, there is the max bill Automatic Bauhaus, which just has the hours, minutes, a central seconds hand, and a (again red) date. The lume again appears on the hour and minute hands, and the dots at 12 o’clock, 3 o’clock, 6 o’clock, and 9 o’clock. At 38mm with a thickness of 10mm it is the smallest of the three and is powered by the automatic Caliber J800.1, which has a power reserve of 42 hours.
As you would expect, it also comes on a leather strap with a matte stainless steel buckle and has an RRP of EUR 1,455.
With so many brands and new watches competing for attention, for those wanting a simple stylish dress watch at a very moderate price which will not date from a ‘looks’ point of view it is easy to forget the max bill range, but it is also one that is always worth looking at if not for oneself, then as a recommendation to others.
