Louis Erard has launched a new Le Régulateur model featuring, for the first time in this collection family, a grand feu enamel dial.
Coming in a 39mm sized polished stainless-steel case with 50m water resistance, the enamel dial is made by Donzé Cadrans S.A. and is lightly speckled, featuring a central seconds hand, an hour display at 12 o’clock, seconds at 6 o’clock, and two-toned enamelled decals on the sub dials. The hands are blued steel.

If you’re not familiar with Grand Feu enamel dials, here’s a quick summary of how these dials are created – you start off with a steel disc onto which ‘feet’ are soldered on the underside. The disk is bathed in acid then dusted with enamel powder, over and over again, layer by layer. After each layer has been applied, it goes into the oven to be fired until the desired result is achieved.

This is the point at which the aforementioned decals are applied, alongside the other markers and text. If you forget that this is a Grand Feu dial, ‘Fabriqué en Suisse émail grand feu’ is on the dial between 7 o’clock and 9 o’clock.

Through the open case back can be seen the automatic Sellita SW266-1. With an open-worked oscillating weight, it beats at 28,800 VPH and has a power reserve of 38 hours. The case back is engraved with “LIMITED EDITION 1 OF 99”.

Coming on a grey grained calf strap with a stainless-steel pin buckle, this new limited edition Louis Erard Le Régulateur Grand Feu Enamel has an RRP of CHF 4,500 excluding taxes.
