Arnold & Son have expanded their use of stones on dials with the new Double Tourbillon White Gold Amber, which follows their use of jade, malachite and aventurine.
We’re all familiar with amber being orange, but Arnold & Son have used something called Baltic or ‘tiger’ amber, which is a creamy yellow colour and not translucent like the orange version.
On this new Double Tourbillon White Gold, it is accompanied by the use of white opal for the two timekeeping dials. Alongside the two tourbillons these two dials are intended to show the local time at 12 o’clock, and a second time at 6 o’clock, with the two dials using Roman and Arabic numerals respectively. These two dials operate independently and although they are ostensibly for two different time zones, there’s nothing to prevent you from using them for whatever purpose you wish.

The case 43.50mm of 18k white gold with water resistance of 30m and has a convex sapphire crystal on the dial side so as to accommodate the height of the two skeletonised white gold tourbillons which are linked by a double gear train. The finishing on the tourbillons consists of bevelling, hand-chamfering, satin-finishing and mirror-polishing of the bridges, and polishing and hand-chamfering of the carriages. You will notice that there are two crows on the side of the case because the dials operate independently.

Powering this new piece, and visible through the case back, is the manually-wound Calibre A&S8513 which has two barrels. is thus equipped with two barrels, beats at 21,600VPH, and has a power reserve of 90 hours. The main plate has NA treatment and circular graining, the bridges are also NAC-treated but have polishing, chamfering and radiating Côtes de Genève, double-snailed barrels, sunray-brushed crown wheels and polished gold chatons
Coming on a green alligator leather with papaya-yellow alligator leather lining and an 18k white gold clasp, this is a pièce unique with a price of CHF 227,100 including taxes.
