We have another modern blast-from-the-past today. Last month ARCHIMEDE released a new “Vintage Edition” model which was a departure from their usual offerings. Coming in a 42mm-sized stainless steel case made by ICKLER, the Vintage Special Edition has either a black or white dials, with a total of five variants.

The dial design will be familiar to those with any exposure to watches from the 1930s in particular. Commonly referred to as a ‘trench watch’ style, the Vintage Special Edition model has the classic features associated with them – retro-style cathedral hands and Arabic numerals, along with a scaled minute ring. Both the hour and minute hands and the hour numerals are lumed, but the colour – green, orange or white – depends on the model variant.

There are both date and no-date versions but given the era of the originals, the latter is more in line with the historical roots.

The stainless steel case is sand-blasted, and features a classic onion crown, which is also associated with trench watches (as well as vintage pilot watches, of course, for similar ease-of-use reasons). It is 9.8mm thick and water resistance is 50m.

Visible through the open case back is the ever reliable ETA 2824, beating at 28,800 VPH and with a power reserve of 42 hours.
Coming on a black leather strap, the RRP of the ARCHIMEDE Vintage Special Edition is eur 1,080 (including taxes).
