NEW: Rado Anatom Automatic and Anatom Automatic 40th Anniversary Edition

Some more horological nostalgia today, with Rado reviving their 1983 Anatom, its name referring to, as you would expect if you don’t know, to how they designed the watch to sit on the wrist.

The new Anatom Automatic brings the (modern) brand’s ceramic to its case, along with edge-to-edge sapphire crystal on the case, and rubber.

Measuring 32.5mm x 46.3mm x 11.3mm, the case combines a matte black ceramic bezel with a black PVD sand blasted stainless steel middle. The crown is also matte black ceramic. The bevelled sapphire crystal is metallised and has an anti-reflective coating.

With a horizontal satin-brushed background, the lacquered gradient dial comes in three launch colours – green to black, blue to black, and cognac to black. The rhodium-coloured hands and applied markers are filled with white Super-LumiNova. The rhodium anchor logo is on a black background and the Rado logo and ‘Automatic’ text are printed. The background of the date window is black, so as to blend in with the gradient colouring.

Through the open case back can be seen the automatic Rado Calibre R766 which beats at 28,800 VPH and has a power reserve of three days.

A textured black rubber strap attaches to the case via horizontally satin-brushed end pieces. It has a brushed stainless steel three-fold clasp with a matte black ceramic cover.

In addition to the three launch colours, Rado has also launched a special 40-piece limited edition black dial model called the Jubilé Anatom Automatic 40th-Anniversary Edition. It has a fully black lacquered polished dial, with eleven 11 baguette diamonds as the hour markers.

The black matte ceramic case is also 32.5mm x 46.3mm x 11.3mm. It has a black PVD sand-blasted stainless steel middle and case back, and again a matte black ceramic crown and bezel.

Water-resistant to 50m, the new Rado Anatom Automatic, with green, blue or cognac dial, has a retail price of AUD 5,425/ EUR 3,800 whilst the black Jubilé 40th-Anniversary Edition is priced at AUD 16,775/ EUR 11,550.
