In 2018, Hautlence launched the HL Vagabonde 01 and 02. It used a new automatic movement, the HTL 205-1, which was developed from sister brand H.Moser & Cie’s HMC 200, and used three open-worked discs to display time, orbiting around a central minute disc. They featured a base black opaline dial with a 3D laser effect honeycomb decoration.
At SIHH 2019, Hautlence updated the watch with a 5N red gold case and a tourbillon. This inaugural Vagabonde Tourbillon featured a central disc, three satellites, and a one-minute flying tourbillon at 6 o’clock, with a base dial micro-blasted with blue PVD. It used the Calibre HTL 405-1, based on the H. Moser & Cie. HMC 804.
Now, the new Vagabonde Tourbillon Series 3 features a shiny new dial, done in collaboration with James Thompson of Black Badger (with whom they have partnered before), made from copper-niobium material.
Featuring the same planetary wandering hours and minutes, the base dial for this new Vagabonde Tourbillon Series 3 is copper-niobium superconductor (copper with niobium filaments) material and again featuring an etched honeycomb pattern.
Consisting of copper with hexagonal niobium filaments, the material is cut across the grain at a specific angle. It is then soaked in an acid bath, which attacks the copper but leaves the niobium intact, revealing the hexagonal pattern. A ripple-like pattern is then created by removing material to create grooves.

The intermediate dial is sapphire, with applied minute numerals and indices in Globolight®. As mentioned with regards to the original models, the time display is of three jumping hour satellites and a central minute disk, with minute track moving between them. The one-minute flying tourbillon visible on the front has a double hairspring and an open bar-shaped carriage and is produced by their sister company Precision Engineering AG.
Through the open case back can be seen the automatic Calibre D30 which beats at 21,600 VPH and has a power reserve of three days. It features a double hairspring flying tourbillon. Functions are: wandering hours and minutes.

This time the case is polished stainless steel with midnight blue PVD coating, measuring 43.mm x 50.8mm x 11.9mm and with a water resistance of 100m. The case is a mix of satin and polished finishing. The crown’s grip is white rubber, as is the integrated strap, which has a steel blue PVD-coated buckle.
Coming in a limited edition of twenty-eight pieces, the Hautlence Vagabonde Tourbillon Series 3 had an RRP of CHF 65,000 (including tax) and can be ordered directly from them.
