NEW: G-SHOCK 40th Anniversary Carbon

Going from Carbonium® to carbon, with Casio marking forty years of the G-Shock with two full-carbon-cased versions of its first-ever G-Shock, the DW-5000.

The new GCWB5000UN-1 and GCWB5000UN-6 models pay tribute to the original with the solar-powered timekeeping (paired with Bluetooth and radio controlled accuracy) in two new three-layer carbon single-shell cases, each with the G-Shock 40th anniversary logo (designed by Eric Haze) engraved on the back and the year of G-Shock’s birth noted on the dial.

Each of the anniversary editions has three types of carbon – forged carbon, carbon fibre-reinforced resin, and multi-layered carbon. There are also carbon layers within the dial and the bracelet, which has a three-fold clasp.

The GCWB5000UN-1 goes for a monochromatic grey/ black look whereas the GCWB5000UN-6 has a colour scheme that Casio is inspired by the Milky Way, combining black carbon fibre with blue and pink coloured resin and opal specks. The case measures 49.1mm × 45mm × 14.5mm, has a water resistance of 200m, and weighs 65g.

There is also a dedicated app that connects with your phone via Bluetooth®. It has Multiband 6 radio control for automatic timekeeping/ adjustment, including world time (39 time zones). There is also a phone finder feature in the app.

These two new watches feature all the technical features of the newest 5000 series models, including a solar charging system, full auto LED backlight, and the day display is in six languages. It has four daily alarms, a snooze alarm, countdown timer, stopwatch, and you can choose between a 12 or 24-hour format. For a full list of the features, go to this link.

Coming in special 40th anniversary packaging, the G-SHOCK GCWB5000UN-1 and GCWB5000UN-6 have an RRP of USD2,000.
