Direct sales and/ or, for larger watch companies, brand boutiques, may have become an increasingly large part of the watching buying/ selling landscape in recent years, but the importance of multi-brand retailers cannot be understated, especially for buyers.

Alongside country-specific editions, there are some widely known retailer editions of watches, with Bucherer perhaps the most likely to be recognised. Another of the most well-known watch retailers is Ahmed Seddiqi & Sons, and independent brand Ressence just launched the TYPE 1° DX3, the third/ final release of their (TYPE 1) collaboration, all of which have been limited editions.

The first was the Type 1 Squared DXB, which featured a dial of multi-faceted Arabic-inspired engraved geometric patterns in varying shades of sand-coloured PVD with engraved indications filled with white Super-LumiNova. It was limited to twenty-five pieces.

The second limited edition (nineteen pieces) was the Ressence Type 1 Slim DX2. Again inspired by geometric patterns, it brought an unexpected skeleton dial to the Type 1 Squared, with a dial finished in a sand-coloured PVD and hands and indices filled with Super-LumiNova. Its case was grade 5 titanium.

So now we come to the Ressence TYPE 1° DX3. Limited to thirty-five pieces, it is based on the T1° Round, with a 42.7mm (thickness of 11mm) grade 5 titanium case.

This time, the dial references Arabic mosaics, with a multi-coloured dial that has the darker shades on its outer section. With the hours, seconds and days of the week on the three satellites, the German silver dial features the use of cloisonné, with a layer of rose gold on the top, and is fulled lumed, with the engraved indications also filled with Super-LumiNova.

Powering it is the automatic ROCS 1.3 which beats at 28,800 VPH and has a power reserve of thirty-six hours.

Alongside this watch’s launch was also the launch of Ressence’s book “Arts & Crafts in Motion” Limited to two hundred copies, it is about the three Ressence and Ahmed Seddiqi & Sons watches and their dial inspirations.

Coming on a beige rubber strap with an ardillon buckle, the Ressence Type 1 DX3 has a price of CHF 23,600 (excluding taxes).
