PIAGET: Limelight Aura High Jewelry watch

In 1989 Piaget launched the Aura, a High Jewel(le)ry watch which featured a fully integrated gem-set case and bracelet with diamonds. Today’s post is about a new Aura which continues this, with a white gold sapphire and diamond watch that is powered by an ultra thin manually-wound movement.

The 2023 Limelight Aura High Jewelry watch measures 27.5mm x 30.1mm, with its 18k white gold rhodium-finished case set with baguette-cut diamonds and blue sapphires, and its diamond dial featuring a sunburst setting. The gem-set bracelet is also in rhodium finished 18K white gold.

The blue sapphires were chosen and are set, shaded from light to dark as they approach theAura’s dial. As you can see from the side, the use of thin claws also allows for a more expansive view of the stones.

Powering it is the in-house ultra-thin manually wound Piaget 430P which beats at 21,600 VPH and has a power reserve of 43 hors. It features blued screws, blued screws, circular Côtes de Genève, bevelled bridges, and a circular-grained mainplate.

The RRP of the new Limelight Aura High Jewelry watch is, not unexpectedly, POA. Whether the stones/ design is to your personal taste or not, there is still much to be admired in terms of gem-setting, how the bracelet flows, and that it is not just a vehicle for gemstones but also contains a mechanical movement, something that is not always a given in this market segment.
