Chopard’s Alpine Eagle continues to cement its place in the modern Chopard pantheon and the luxury sports watch segment, with L.U.C. calibres inside.
Now, joining the collection family is not a complication but an ultra-thin model (8mm thick) that is clean, elegant, and in Lucent Steel.
For those who don’t know or forgotten, Chopard’s proprietary alloy Lucent Steel A223 is 50% harder than regular steel and, in line with Chopard’s intention to make their way to fully using recycled steel. It is also hypoallergenic and shines brighter.
The Alpine Eagle 41 XPS’ 41mm case is 8mm thick and adds an ultra-thin model (case height of a mere 8mm) to the collection, the Alpine Eagle 41 XPS comes on an integrated bracelet. Its dial colour is what they are calling ‘Monte Rosa Pink’, named after the second highest mountain the Alps, and it has a galvanic treatment, giving it both texture and shimmering depth. The applied markers are white gold and the minute hands have Super-LumiNova.
One big selling point is that there is a small seconds at 6 o’clock, but no date aperture. For whatever reason, Chopard decided to eschew one and keep the dial clean. I would encourage this to remain so, and that they don’t feel tempted to add a date window in the future. The sub dial features black markings for the seconds track.

An ultra-thin watch means a thing movement. For this watch, the 3mm movement is the L.U.C 96.40-L which has a double whammy – it is both COSC-certified and the Poinçon de Genève. It features two stacked barrels which give it a 65 hour power reserve. It also has an off-centre 22 carat gold micro rotor, and the movement has Côtes de Genève on the bridges,
The Chopard Alpine Eagle 41 XPS bracelet has a triple folding clasp with safety pushers and a mix of polished and satin-brushed finishing and has an RRP of EUR 24,400.
Sometimes you look at a new watch and you immediately think yes, this works and is a solid good looking piece. This new Alpine Eagle 41 XPS fits into that category. Just don’t mess about with it and add more ‘features’, please.
