It’s time for some new solid tool watches – meet Sinn’s new T50, a titanium diving watch with what they call ‘Captive Safety Bezel’ and alongside it, the T50 GBDR and the limited edition T50 Goldbronze®.
Sometimes you just need a watch you don’t need to worry about if you accidentally bump into something. Especially underwater.

The T50 is 41mm with a thickness of 12.3mm and its case and back are made from bead-blasted titanium, with a total weight (without strap) of 53g. The tegimented diving bezel has ratcheted minutes, lume, and is secured against accidental turning by virtue of being one where you depress it before turning. For the 50 GDR and T50 Goldbronze®, the Captive Safety Bezel is made from Goldbronze® 125 (and the watch dial, matte black) and the total weight, 73g.

Goldbronze® 125 (CuSn7Au12.5) is a patent-pending bronze alloy developed by Sinn which adds a number of materials to bronze – lead, cadmium and nickel. The mix has been chosen to increase corrosion resistance in seawater, but there will be oxidation over time, leading to changes in patina that can be removed with an appropriate bronze cleaning cloth.
The T50’s waterproofness is 500m as per DIN 8310, and meets diving DIN 8306, European diving standards EN 250 and EN 14143, and is certified by DNV. The crown at 4 o’clock is screw-down.

On the black dial there is colour coding for the lume – the hour hands and indices are green, the minute and seconds hands and on the bezel are blue. You will notice that the T50 Goldbronze’s dial is different – this is because of irregular polishing which they call ‘decorative grinding’.

Powering the new T50 is the automatic SW 300-1 which beats at 28,800 VPH and has a power reserve of 56 hours.
The Sinn T50 Goldbronze® is limited to 300 pieces but the T50 and T50 GBDR are part of the general collections. The Goldbronze comes on a textile strap but the other two have the choice of a matching titanium bracelet, leather strap, or silicone strap.

Coming with a three years warrant, the RRPs are as follows:
1. T50 – EUR 2,990 (leather strap), EUR 3,340 (bracelet) and EUR 3,380 (silicone strap)
2. T50 GBDR – EUR 3,750 (leather strap), EUR 4,100 (bracelet) and EUR 4,140 (silicone strap)
3. T50 Goldbronze® – EUR 4,980 (textile strap)
