Roger Dubuis has just launched the new Excalibur Blacklight Spin-Stone™ MB. A boutique-only variant of its Excalibur Blacklight Monobalancier (MB), it is the first timepiece to be set with coloured synthetic Spin-Stones™ spinels (on the bezel and on the flange). Graded from red to blue and with quite specific cuts and curves, the patent pending stones are coated with Super-LumiNova, which makes for an intriguing illumination experience.

The 42mm case, including bezel and crown, is made of Eon-Gold™, a 750/1000 5N gold alloy, and has a water resistance of 100m.
Movement-wise, it’s an upgraded automatic Calibre RD720SQ skeleton (‘SQ’ for ‘squelette’) with a micro-rotor which beats at 28,800 VPH and has an increased power reserve of 72 hours thanks to new gear train teeth, new lubrication, and enhancement of the shape of the escapement. Also, the balance wheel inertia has been doubled to make it more shock resistant, and there are diamond-coated silicon pallet stones. Finishing wise, there is shot-blasting, circular graining, and the pink gold main plate and bridges are coated with NAC.

The dial side has polished pink gold-plated hour markers filled with Super-LumiNova. The hands are in 750/1000 pink gold with satin-brushed finishing on the angled surfaces and shot-blasted finishing on the (top) grey flat surfaces, with lumed tips.

Coming on white calf strap with a Quick Release System (QRS) and pink gold folding buckle with titanium blades, the boutique-only Excalibur Blacklight Spin-Stones™ MB is limited to 28 pieces and has an Australian RRP of $230,000.
