NEW: URWERK UR-112 ‘Back to black’

It’s time for a new UR-112 Aggregat variant – it is what it says on the label, as they say, with a black DLC-treated steel and titanium case measuring 42mm x 51mm with a thickness of 16mm, water resistant to 30m.

I am a jumping hour, dragging minute and digital second watch.

As you already know, it is a thoroughly modern interpretation of a hunter-style case and the cover is titanium. The cover is both grooved and open-worked, and you can see the pushers labelled ‘PUSH’ to open it vertically. Once open you see the power-reserve and digital seconds indications.

The main body of the UR-112 ‘Back to black’ is a mix of satin-brushed, sand-blasted and bead-blasted finishing.

The UR-112 Aggregat is part of the brand’s Special Project collection, with a digital jumping time display (hours, minutes and seconds). The jumping digital hours and trailing digital minutes are on black aluminium prisms that rotate from a central axis. Each of the twelve engraved hour numerals is filled with Super-LumiNova. The small seconds is a skeletonised silicon disc attached to a red anodised aluminium bridge.

A thin rod connects the body and head of the UR-112. This shaft is made from titanium and has double gearing (one at each end) to connect the display module, using gears that drive the hour and minute prisms via two gears. The shaft is perpendicular to the time indication.

Powering the watch is the automatic Calibre UR-13.01, which beats at 28,800VPH and has a power reserve of 48 hours.

This new UR-112 ‘Back to black’ comes in a limited edition of twenty-five pieces (like its predecessors) and has an RRP of CHF 280,000 (excluding taxes).
