Back in May 2022, Revolution’s Grail Watch platform launched an unexpected collaborative piece between Ressence and Alain Silberstein.
Silberstein has had somewhat of a ‘second life’ as a collaborator in recent years, with his trademark primary colours and shapes finding its way into timepieces including wristwatches of of perhaps the more unexpected to brands trying something new, and even a clock.
The Ressence Type 1 REV Grail Watch is a familiar beast in a new guise, featuring the hours, minutes, seconds and day of the week indications with a combination of colour and triangular markers that makes it immediately distinguishable as having the Silberstein touch.

The convex mesh dial has the classic Ressence design of three eccentric biaxial satellites inclined at 3° (hours) and 4.75° (day and day of the week), with the engraved indications filled with Super-LumiNova.
This model incorporates the state-of-the-art ROCS 1 – Ressence Orbital Convex System. Equipped with an automatic movement, it has 36 hours of power reserve. The rotation of this watch’s minute dial perfectly symbolises the passing of time, with a small wilting tulip indicating the hours and a small skull punctuating the seconds. The moving dial is a nod towards the hourglass and the passing of time.

As you are all familiar with, it is powered by what is called the Ressence Orbital Convex System (ROCS 1) which uses a highly modified 2892/A. It beats at 28,800 VPH and has a power reserve of 36 hours.
The case is 41.5mm with a thickness of 11mm and made from grade 5 titanium.

Collaborative pieces are a dime a dozen in ‘other worlds’, be it fashion or even food, and they have been gaining popularity across the watch world as well. Some make sense, some less so, and too often, there are some for which any actual design collaboration is difficult to discern. The Ressence Silberstein piece may have been unexpected, but ‘in the metal’ it works, because the way in which the design influence of Alain Silberstein is incorporated is not intrusive, but seamless within the distinctive Ressence design. It also adds an informal fun element.
Priced at CHF 22,500 (excluding taxes), the Ressence T1 REV Grail Watch was limited to only 36 pieces.
