In 2021 Arnold & Son launched the Luna Magna, which highlighted not just the brand’s first three-dimensional moon but also, the largest such moon to date – 12mm in diametre, in a wristwatch.
There have been a couple of other variants since then, but Arnold & Son have just launched a new Luna Magna in platinum which is of note because they have ventured into a popular contemporary material for the new dial – meteorite.

The case size is identical – 44mm diametre, 15.9mm thick, and water resistant to 30m.
The octahedrite meteorite dial has sand-coloured PVD treatment on the flange. The hour dial is white opal, with Supe-LumiNova.

The 12mm moon is white mother-of-pearl, with half its sphere in grey marble and the other half, aventurine. As well as the time and three-dimensional moon on the front, there is a more detailed secondary moon phase indicator on the back, which requires a one day correction every 122 years. Changes to the moon phase and time-setting are both done via the single crown.

It is all powered by the in-hose manually-wound A&S1021 movement, developed for the Luna Magna, which beats at 21,600 VPH and has a power reserve of 90 hours. Finishing includes circular graining of the mainplate, blued screws, and Côtes de Genève on the bridges. The moon phase indicator is circular satin-finished.
It comes on a dark brown alligator leather strap with orange alligator leather lining, hand-sewn. Platinum and titanium folding buckle.
Also in a limitation of 28 pieces, the RRP of the new Luna Magna Platinum Meteorite is CHF 70,900.
