It has been awhile since we last featured Hautlence, a brand for which we have a soft spot, but it seemed fitting, following a post about the new H.Moser & Cie Streamliner, to follow it with a new piece from their sister brand.
Now headed by Samuel Hoffman, Hautlence say that they are revamping, of sorts, with a refreshed product offering and approach. The first result of this is the Linear Series 1, with a (new) linear retrograde jumping hour and one minute flying tourbillon.
The dial has several levels – the base dial is skeletonised rhodium-plated brass with vertical satin finishing and an engraved minute track. Atop this is a sapphire level with a printed minute track in blue and white. Globolight® is use for illumination.

The main dial is partially open, allowing parts of the movement, including the minute, cam, to be seen. As mentioned, the retrograde hour is jumping – the minute hand rotates once every sixty minutes, at which point the minute sector falls back, driving the hour star which includes the hour cam.
The linear hour scale on the left indicates the hours using a linkage which, Hautlence say, is a nod to the one used in Hautlence’s first movement, the H1 (2004). The hour indicator is a small white pointer on the end of the linkage. Once it hits the ‘12’, the snail disengages the probe, releasing the accumulated energy, resulting in the linkage jumping and going back to ‘1’.
At 6 o’clock is the one minute flying tourbillon at 6 o’clock, with a blue skeletonised bridge.

The case, in stainless steel, measures 43mm x 50.8mm x 11.9mm, and has a fluted bezel. It is water resistant to 100n.
Powered by their eighth in-house movement, the automatic Calibre D50 (made with the assistance of Agenhor), has 239 parts, beats at 21,600 VPH, and has a power reserve of 72 hours.

The new Hautlence Linear Series 1 comes on an integrated blue rubber strap with a stainless steel deployant. Limited to 28 pieces, it has an RRP of CHF 59,000.
