NEW: new brand Strehler and its launch model Sirna

Known for the small production number brand of movement-focused complicated watches that bear his name, earlier this year independent watchmaker Andreas Strehler launched a sub-brand with a much more accessible price point. Meet Strehler and its launch model, the Sirna.

The name of this first model derives from Sirnach, the town where Strehler’s workshop is situated and where this watch will be made, with all aspects of the watch – case, dial, hands, movement, done in-house.

Starting from the outside, the Sirna comes in a 40mm polished steel case with curved lugs and a crown with a blue titanium insert featuring Andreas Strehler’s butterfly logo. Total thickness is 8.5mm and water resistance is 30m.

As mentioned, the dial is made in-house but its design, including the pattern, designed with Eric Giroud. It is made from titanium that has been machined, laser-engraved and hand polished. The colour is anodised blue, with a proprietary pattern, circular-brushed stainless steel chapter ring. The steel ‘Strehler hands’ are also made in-house.

Through the open case back you can see the new automatic Calibre SA-30 which was developed, manufactured and finished at the Strehler workshop. With a skeletonised 18k gold rotor and beating at 21,600VPH, it has a power reserve of 60 hours. It is regulated by a Strehler Swiss lever escapement and has a free-sprung balance wheel with four regulating screws.

Coming on a brown calf strap with off-white stitching and stainless steel buckle, it comes in a beech box with an additional leather trave pouch. It is secured to the wrist by an in-house made steel pin buckle whose profile echoes that of the case.

Although it is not a limited edition, its production will be limited to 30 to 50 watches per annum simply because of the size of the brand/ workshop.

The price of the Strehler Sirna is CHF 20,000 excluding taxes. For more details on how to buy one, go to Strehler’s website.
