NEW: Roger Dubuis Excalibur Spider Huracàn Monobalancier

So the last post was about the fruits of a new watch and car partnership; what should it be followed by but another new piece from another watch and car collaboration?

Only in this case, it is not a new one – meet the new Excalibur Spider Huracàn Automatic Monobalancier (MB) Limited Edition from Roger Dubuis. The latest timepiece linked to their partnership with Lamborghini Squadra Corse, some of which we have covered previously, it has been specifically developed for the launch of the Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo EVO2, the Super Trofeo GT supercar.

This new Excalibur comes in a 45mm-sized case (thickness of 14.1mm) made of SMC carbon, an in-house developed composite material similar to that used on the Lamborghini Huracán’s monocoque chassis and body panels. The recognisable Excalibur notched bezel uses black DLC-treated titanium and has lacquer markings. This extends to the crown, which is also black DLC with a lacquer ring and design-wise, inspired by the car’s racing nuts.

Yes ‘that’ colour makes an appearance here too, with khaki green and orange the colour scheme of choice. The white gold hour and minute hands are coated with black PVD, their orange-outlined tips filled with Super-LumiNova. There is also an orange seconds hand and the colour is liberally used for minute track, the bezel, and the crown ring. The upper flange is black PVD-coated with polished and rhodium-plated hour markers filled with Super-LumiNova.

In terms of auto references, there is a Huracán honeycomb motif, a nod to the hexagonal dashboard of the Huracán, and twin barrels and a 12° tilted balance wheel represent the calibre associated with Lamborghini Squadra Corse. The upper calibre strut-bar bridge references those found on the V10 engine.

Through the open case back (which has a Huracàn logo on the sapphire crystal) can be seen the skeltonised Calibre RD630, which beats at 28,000VPH and has a power reserve of 60 hours. It has a rotor designed to look like a Huracán wheel rim, and the strut-bar bridge is reminiscent of those found on the V10 engine. Finishing includes a shot-blastd and NAC-coated main plate and bridges.

Its khaki green strap is rubber with an Alcantara® inlay. The inner lining has the Pirelli P ZeroTM Trofeo R pattern (Pirelli-themed Roger Dubuis watches being another sub collection which we’ve covered). It is an interchangeable strap which comes with a Quick Release System on the triple folding clasp, which has a black DLC-treated titanium cover with titanium blades.

The Roger Dubuis Excalibur Spider Huracán Monobalancier is limited to 88 pieces and the RRP is AUD 86,500.
