NEW : Longines Heritage Classic Chronograph 1946

The last half year or so has seen a couple of attractive new Heritage Collection releases from Longines in the form of the Military 1938 and the Heritage Classic. Now, the brand has launched the Classic Chronograph 1946, not only adding to the plethora of good looking options in this collection family, but also continuing on with their periodic release of vintage-inspired chronographs of various forms (including monopushers), of which we have covered a number on Horologium over the years.

Based on a model originally released in 1946, this new model (aka Ref. L2.827.4.73.0) is in a 40mm sized stainless steel case that has a water resistance of 30m.

Beneath the anti-reflective box-shaped sapphire crystal is a domed silvered dial with painted black Arabic numerals and indices, along with blued steel leaf-shaped hands. Along with the central chronograph seconds there is a small running seconds at 3 o’clock and a 30 minute counter for the chronograph function at 9 o’clock.

Underneath the case back, decorated with the 1889 logo of a winged hourglass encircled by “EF Co Longines” (the initials of Ernest Francillone), is the automatic Calibre L895.5 (ETA A31.L21 base) which beats at 25,200VPH and has a power reserve of 64 hours.

Coming on a black leather strap with a steel pin buckle, the RRP for the Heritage Classic Chronograph 1946 is EUR 3,000/ AUD 4,150.
