Today we bring you a break from 2019’s ‘blue’ programming with a new dial colour, courtesy of four new pieces just announced by Panerai. Going under the banner of the ‘Edizione Verde Militare’ (Military Green Edition), the PAM995, PAM997, PAM998, and PAM999 all have the Radiomir case, a water resistance of 100m, and the same deep matte green sandwich dial. However, three of them have polished stainless steel cases whilst the fourth, a (bigger) sandblasted matte black ceramic one. They also have a variety of functions/ complications.
First up, let’s look at the PAM995. Coming in a 45mm-sized polished stainless steel case, this is the clean ‘entry’ time-only piece and, if I had to choose from the the quadruplet, my pick. To go with the whole nod o the military past theme, both the gold hands and Arabic numerals have a faux vintage coloured lume. The 3, 6, 9 and 12 marks on the small sub seconds are also lumed.
Through the sapphire case back is the automatic Calibre P.4000 with a micro-rotor which beats at 28,800VPH and has a three day power reserve. The RRP for the PAM995 is 11,000 CHF including tax.
Next up we have the PAM997. This is the one that stands out from the others. It is in a significantly larger 48mm case, made of black matte ceramic. Like the previous model, it is time with a small seconds, but using a modern material and size which probably rules it out for most people. Again, the numerals, hour markers and small seconds markers are all lumed.
Inside is the manual-wind Calibre P.3000 which beats at 21,600VPH and has a three day power reserve. manual wind movement with only the hours, minutes, and sub seconds dial to the right of the 9 and a 3 day power reserve. The RRP for the PAM997 is 13,000 CHF including tax.
The third new model is the PAM998, which has the same 45mm stainless steel case as the PAM995. Functionally, however, it also has a date window, second time zone function, an AM/ PM indicator within the seconds sub dial, and a (three day) power reserve indicator on the movement, visible through the sapphire case back. It also has gold hands and faux vintage coloured lume.
These functions are all powered by the automatic Calibre P.4001movement with a micro-rotor, which beats at 28,800VPH and has a power reserve of three days. The RRP for the PAM998 is 11,850 CHF including tax.
Finally, we come to the PAM999. With the identical 45mm stainless steel case as the other two models, it also has a second time zone function, AM/ PM indicator on the seconds sub dial, and a date window, but brings the power reserve indicator to the dial side. As is the case with its two similarly size brethren it has gold-accented hands and faux vintage lume on hands and markers.
The automatic Calibre P.4002 movement with micro-rotor movement keeps it ticking, beating at 28,800VPH and with a power reserve of three days. How much extra does it cost to have the power reserve on the front? Well the RRP for the PAM999 is 12,000 including tax.
If any of these new Edizione Verde Militare pieces take your fancy then there is one important thing to note – they are boutique-only.
